During the climb higher on the trail, rocky outcrops provide good viewpoints (and a place to rest and catch my breath).

Even on a somewhat cloudy day, the intense sun at these elevations require glasses & sunblock.

Today's hike started at around 9180 feet elevation, and I'm already at over 10,000 feet and climbing as the trail continues. The trees get thinner and shorter up here -- but as high up as I am, the majestic Rocky Mountains still loom above (many of them 14000 feet -- almost another mile up, and out of my reach).
