Typically, I see signs at trail intersections with distances or trail names -- but I'm a little perplexed by this one.
Horses are sometimes allowed on certain hiking paths, although I didn't see any this trip. I guess Llamas can go anywhere they want (although I didn't see any of those either).

This trail is nice, and varying sections have very different looks and scenery -- like this area with tall, straight trees. This trail eventually leads to a meadow.

In the meadow, a large bull elk seems to be 'play fighting' with some large logs and branches on the ground -- picking them up with his antlers and tossing them around as if they weigh nothing. I guess I didn't need binoculars after all. These powerful animals can weigh almost 1000 pounds, and can get very aggressive this time of year when they are preparing for the fighting and mating season -- so I keep a very safe distance.

Fun Fact: Did you know that the Elk is second largest member of the deer family? Do you know the largest?

This was a relaxing a pleasant trail, followed by some additional walking and sightseeing in the area. Tomorrow, I'll aim for a larger hike.

< Fitbit on hike: 12000 steps, 84 floors | Full day total: 19000 steps, 109 floors >
[as calibrated here, 1 floor = about 12 feet elevation gain, 2700 steps = about 1 mile]
