All trees are now gone -- leaving just a steep, rocky trail -- with great views, and still climbing higher.
I stop often to rest, and it feels like my energy has disappeared along with the trees at this soaring altitude.

This trail is now at eye-level with glaciers that never melt in the alpine tundra. I continue the hike past (and above) them.

Momentarily energized by the sight of glaciers, I snap this photo before putting on my jacket and continuing up in the cold windy air and blazingly bright sun here. The temperature is below freezing at this altitude.
