This skinny section of trail on the edge of a cliff is slightly 'stomach-dropping', but tolerable (although I would not recommend this if there is any snow on the ground as the trail is slanted at an uncomfortable angle towards the cliff). 800 feet below (left) is Peacock Pool, fed by a waterfall originating from my destination of Chasm Lake (not yet visible, but just over the next ridge. See the small glacier at the top-right). The sheer size & scale of this place is hard to describe or properly represent in a photo. Even with the camera's wide-angle lens, it's impossible to capture the full pond or mountain-tops -- and I can't step back any farther on this narrow ledge trail to get a wider picture. Looking far ahead on the trail, which crosses over the waterfall, a fellow hiker takes a photo at the same time I take this picture. See him? < Click photo to zoom >
