Hiking down, but still above the tree-line -- the views are excellent here.

There are lots of Pikas and Marmots on this trail -- especially in the higher, rocky sections. They mostly ignore hikers, and I take a few pictures of this marmot with a mouthful of grass. I'm not sure if that's food or material for building a nest -- but these animals seem to thrive up here.

Finally returning to the tree-line below 11,500 feet, and the end of the hike a few hours later. This was a strenuous and enjoyable hike -- and a great way to finish the trip here in RMNP.

[as calibrated here, 1 floor = about 12 feet elevation gain, 2700 steps = about 1 mile]
