The sun is now fully up as I pause to admire the ever-improving views and take a picture. Still about 30 minutes from the top as this trail continues to go up and around the mountain.


Wildlife seems to have no trouble climbing up here, including this curious chipmunk.


Nearby, a very long skinny snake slides quietly past me on a shady area of trail, perhaps looking for chipmunks or other prey.
