The massive number and size of the stones that were cut, shaped and fitted together to build this is truly amazing. Archeologists working to restore and better understand the site have discovered that below these walls (underground) is another 6 feet or more of carefully cut stones that act as foundation and support.


At the upper levels of the site there are high quality rooms with great views -- probably the living quarters for imperial family members.


Many of the doorways have carved slots, which would have held ropes or a hinge for some type of door.
Doors, roofs and anything made of wood or thatch is lost to time -- only the stone remains.
