The cloud forest provides ample water for a wide variety of plants to grow in abundance here, despite the high altitude.


On either side of the trail we pass fruits, plants and flowers -- and Edwin explains how many of these were used by the Inca (and people today) as food and medicine (like the citronella which can be used as mosquito repellent). Also; looking at plants is a good way to rest once-in-a-while as we climb the steep trail.
