It's the hottest day of the trip so far (over 90° & very humid), but our guide says it's typical for this time of year. A bird with long legs stares intently at the water, but seems extremely cautious (like most animals here). Maybe he's thirsty -- but he's also being very careful.


Our guide says there's a caiman right next to the boat, and we struggle for a moment to find him, camouflaged just at the surface of the water -- probably waiting for his next meal to walk up for a drink. (I suddenly wonder why I bothered to pack a bathing suit on this trip. -DL).
