
Looking through the trees to the distant mountains, I see many small glaciers. These never melt (even in summer) -- but have been shrinking since the last ice age, and may eventually disappear completely.

The scenic trail zig-zags down this steep hillside, and the 3 mile hike takes about 2.5 hours today.

After that hike, I also walk around the picturesque Sprague Lake (pictured) -- accessible to everyone (no hiking required).
It begins to rain in the afternoon, but the nearby town of Lyons offers some shopping and dining opportunities. Tomorrow, I'll aim for a longer hike.
