The air gets more chilly as this hike seems to climb endlessly up, and I stop more frequently to rest and breathe. At this elevation, it's technically passing into the 'Alpine Zone' -- an area above 11,500 feet where trees can no longer grow, and oxygen becomes even thinner than before.
