Like many hotels in Iceland -- this one includes a hot tub. Most of the heat and electricity in Iceland comes from geothermal hot water just underground -- and there's plenty of it here. The tap water is good to drink, but has a very strong sulfur smell (especially the hot water). It's also important to remove your jewelry when in the tub as this water will instantly change the color of many metals. Since there are no other stores or restaurants near here, it's dinner at the hotel (after a soak in the hot tub of course).

By the way, I notice all the rooms with kitchens have this fire blanket (in addition to a regular fire extinguisher). The writing is all in Icelandic, so all I can do it look at the pictures and try to figure out what they suggest in case of fire (wrap yourself in the blanket and roll away?). Fortunately, I never had to find out.
